The fight against all the demons – SUNGAY 2 Ultramarathon

SUNGAY02

The fight against all the demons that told me I should give up, and against the fear that I would have to. The morning sun on my face and the exhilaration after the relatively hard climb to Mount Sungay uphill road just to reach the Palace in the Sky in Tagaytay City was just awesome.

The happiness and pride I felt upon completion of all flat and uphill intervals. The little smile I did afterward was precious. And the lesson I learned about myself and what I’m capable of… is just unbelievable.

The social aspect of running is very rewarding. Not to mention the new frontiers that  I conquer. On the other hand, running ultras is just as much about mental strength as it is about physical strength. maybe more so. It takes determination and an ability to spend hours lost in your own mind, looking at yourself in the mirror and liking what you see. And, should the route you’re running be a dull one, you have boredom to fight too. After all, you get there in the end and be proud that you did not Cheat and have all the markings in your bib.

A big THANK YOU again to Prince Multisports for a very successful ultramarathon race. The Race Director Prince Baltazar and all his staff for giving their weekend time for us. My ever loyal support team Bonjing and Carlos my nephew, my wife and son Elijah- happy to see another trophy and medal to be display in our room.

And to all honest runner who crossed the finish line with all respect, Congratulations and see you all on the road to Banahaw 360 100K.

Ranked 10
8hrs. 37mins.

You can’t cheat yourself. If you don’t put in the miles, you can’t got to the starting line thinking you’re going to pull a miracle out of nowhere. you get out exactly as much as you put in. Running is just you, the work you put in, and the clock. #southsiderunner
